21 JANUARY 2015 - VISIT BY ETA TEACHERS FROM AMERICA TO SMK PINANG TUNGGAL

On 21st January, fellow teachers and students of SMK Pinang Tunggal were delighted to welcome a group of 15 English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) from America. The event started with a brief introduction about the school by En. Idaham and a presentation on teaching strategies and achievements by Ms. Cheryl Fernando. Next, the ETAs were led to the school hall for a presentation by the students of 4 Sesbania. The students talked about the qualities of a superhero and this was followed by them singing the song 'Superheroes' by The Script. After this, the ETAs took over the stage and got the students to sing an action song with them. They then divided students into 15 groups and went about carrying various ice breaking activities with them.

Next, the ETAs visited Mr. Andrew Tan's classroom where he was teaching English to 2 Kaempferia. They got an opportunity to talk to the students there and ask them about their work. This was followed by a simple meal and the ETAs left the school around 1.30pm.

The entire visit provided a very meaningful experience for both teachers and students alike as they were exposed to the English Language and had the opportunity to use the language
